Yes, you guessed it, yesterday Courtney unrolled an entire roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. But other than that, it was a lovely day! The morning began in complete darkness with the sound of two little voices laughing as they played in our room before 6 a.m. I asked Paul, "What time is it?" and he said, "I can't even open my eyes to look at the clock." We let them play until they ran downstairs so I had to drag myself out of bed, take the puppy outside and feed the hungry children.
So, why was the day so lovely, you ask? I had a babysitter during the afternoon so I could go to lunch with my friends, Tammy and Ginny, to celebrate Ginny's birthday. Lindsey, a favorite babysitter, goes back to school next week. From now on, there will be no more babysitters during the day. Bummer! At least I had one last day with her. Hoping to take advantage of babysitting time, I measured the width of our three windows where we have broken blinds and went to Home Depot (Katherine are you proud?) and bought new blinds. BUT. . .I should have measured the length. All of them were too short when I brought them home--typical me! When it comes to home improvement, I just can't get it quite right. But Olive Garden with friends for salad and breadsticks was so fun that I forgot all about my blunder and enjoyed the afternoon.
Quote of the afternoon--Spencer at Rachel's bus stop: "I'm sweating like crazy! It's hotter than the sun out here!" After Rachel came bounding off the bus, we spent the late afternoon packing our bags for our weekend trip to the temple and other tourist spots in the D.C. area. Finally, the car was packed and were ready to go when Paul got home. Only, our plans began to unroll because we forgot one tiny detail. . .that darn dog!!! I didn't arrange to put her in a kennel until right as we were leaving, and, of course, they were all closed by then.
So we're heading out this morning (after 9 a.m. when the kennels open.) We'll get the hang of having a dog one of these days. At least the packing's all done although I'll have to get my suitcase out of the car to do my hair and makeup this morning. Off we go! I'm sure we'll have more mishaps on the trip to report when we get back home. But I'll try to "roll with it, baby!"
